Al Awani’s commitment to fostering a collaborative ecosystem is evident in his partnerships with government bodies, academic institutions, and industry leaders, which have cultivated a robust environment for knowledge-sharing and innovation. With over 20 years of experience in managing and developing defense and security partnerships, Al Awani has led complex projects that bolster the UAE’s sovereignty and economic impact.
His previous roles include Chief Economic Program Officer at Tawazun, Director in the Investment Unit, and positions at ZonesCorp Abu Dhabi and ADNOC. Al Awani holds a Master’s in Quality Management and a BA in Electrical Engineering.

Since joining EOS in 1998, Markus has held various sales-related roles in the export region. Over the years, he established EOS subsidiaries in UK and Nordics, introduced distribution partners in many other countries in his region and significantly grew the business by expanding into new markets and industries. Prior to joining EOS, Markus was the Area Manager for Europe and Asia at Kettner, an equipment manufacturer in the packaging industry. Markus has a Dipl. Ing. degree in Production Engineering.

Dr Nesma Aboulkhair

Dr. Aboulkhair is the Director of Additive Manufacturing. Prior to joining TII, she was an assistant professor at the University of Nottingham (UK), where she stills holds a visiting academic role. Since 2013, She has been working on Materials & Manufacturing Research; with active projects spanning across several metal additive manufacturing (AM) processes (powder based and drop-on-demand). Coming from a mechanical engineering background and holding a PhD in Materials Engineering and Materials Design, she specialises on developing new materials, materials processing, manufacturing, and characterisation for metallurgy and mechanical properties. As an early career researcher, she has an excellent track record of scientific publications (50, h-index 25, Field Weighted Citation Impact 5.37 – Materials Science, source: SciVal), funding (in excess of £3M), and invited and keynote talks at international conferences and reputable institutions. At TII, she set up a state-of-the-art AM laboratory with facilities for powder production, manufacturing, post-processing, and characterisation, which is now fully operational.
She works closely with the UAE’s local industries, providing them with support and business solutions for advanced manufacturing needs. She manages a team of researchers, training them to become AM specialists. She is also involved in a range of outreach activities to raise the public’s awareness about Materials & Manufacturing.
She has been awarded numerous awards and honours, including the prestigious Anne McLaren Fellowship (UK), Dean of Engineering Scholarship for International Research Excellence, Stanford’s World Top 2% Scientists (3 years in a row), among others. She was the Chair of the Early Career Researchers committee for the Association of Industrial Laser Users (AILU) and serves as an editor and reviewer for various reputable scientific journals.

With over 25 years of experience in the space business, he is a high-energy and dedicated leader with a strong engineering background and a passion for innovation. Franck has successfully led and contributed to multiple projects involving launch and space vehicles, mechanical engineering and systems engineering, delivering high quality results and exceeding customer expectations. Prior to joining FADA, Franck was Principal Spacecraft Systems Engineer at Rocket Lab USA, where he was responsible for overseeing the design, development and integration of spacecraft systems for various missions and payloads. His extensive experience includes senior executive and engineering roles at Morf2D Inc., RUAG Space, and Thales Alenia Space.

Fabrizio Ragusa has about 15 years’ experience in the energy sector and has intimate knowledge of the energy market around the world. He worked many years in Chromalloy, manufacturer of gas turbine and aviation engine critical hot parts, in the position of Sales Director Asia for the Strategic Business Unit Energy, driving the strategy and sales business opportunities in Asia. Prior to Chromalloy, he was in the senior executive role of Business Development Manager in Ansaldo Energia, manufacturer of gas / steam turbines and EPC of renewable energy systems, providing growth plans in international markets, with special focus to the USA. He also worked in ENEL, one of the largest power producers in the world, in business development in Italy / USA and China for renewable energy. He holds a master’s degree in Engineering from University of Rome “La Sapienza” and an MBA from INSEAD Business School.
Fabrizio Ragusa is currently holding the position of Global Business Development Director Energy in SLM Solutions. SLM Solutions Group AG is headquartered in Germany and is an integrated solutions provider and metal additive manufacturing partner. Fabrizio Ragusa is developing segment specific solutions in the field of the energy industry, improving SLM Solutions competencies towards those industry segments.

Professor Marwan Khraisheh is a seasoned academic leader with extensive experience in research, academic program development, and community engagement. He rejoined HBKU in August 2024 to establish the Mechanical Engineering program and oversee faculty affairs. Previously, he served as Chair of the Mechanical Engineering Program at Texas A&M University at Qatar (TAMUQ), significantly advancing research and academic standards.
At Qatar Foundation, Dr. Khraisheh launched and managed key research and innovation initiatives and led the Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI), where he directed over 150 researchers focused on energy, water, and environmental sustainability.

Professor Abu Al-Rub is currently the Director of ADAM (Advanced Digital & Additive Manufacturing) Center and Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Khalifa University. He has been a Professor at Texas A&M University. Professor Abu Al-Rub primary research field of interests are in employing digital design and 3D printing for creating multifunctional architected materials and composites for various engineering applications. He has published one book, 6 patents in additive manufacturing, and over 250 publications. He has served as the principle/co-principal investigator of more than 30 projects; he is responsible for more than $30Million. In 2007, he has been selected among nine leading scientists in the US by National Science Foundation and Department of Energy to design new grades of advanced high strength steels for the automotive industry. He has been among the Scholar Google 100 Most Cited Authors in Civil Engineering.

Dr. Bashar El-Khasawneh is the Founder and Chair of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Professional UAE Section. A founder of the Dexter Robotics startup company. He is currently an associate professor of mechanical engineering at Khalifa University. He served as the chair of the graduate program at the Mechanical Engineering Department from 2016-2019. He served as the Associate Chair for the department from 2013-2016. Before that he acted as an academic advisor for the British University in Dubai to develop an accredited industrial engineering program.
Between 2008 and 2010 he was the Manager of the Applied Research Programs at King Abdullah II Design and Development Bureau (KADDB), Jordan. Between 2002 to 2008 he held an assistant professor position in the Industrial Engineering Department, at Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), within that time he served as a chairman for the department for two years. Between 1998-2002 he worked for Caterpillar Incorporated in the technical center and for KLA-Tencor with the technology group both in USA. He worked extensively on technical and managerial assistance for many industries. He founded a design and development pre-incubator at the JUST University to train and qualify students to become entrepreneurs. He obtained his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA (1997). He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Innovation Lab at the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and a member of the editorial board of IJAER.
His current research is focused on developing new concepts of advanced machining centers based on parallel kinematics mechanism and machining in harsh environments by adapting to the environment/geometry and be able to perform machining/welding tasks and developing robotic platforms for 3D printing of structures.
